A gantry crane is identical to an overhead crane besides that the bridge for carrying the trolley or trolleys is precisely supported on two or more legs. It runs on fixed rails or another similar runway, usually on the foundation. Safety measures and operating practices for overhead and gantry cranes are tied together because they all contain identical traveling and hoisting features.
